Our team prevails in Supreme Court! |
|
Dimitri Maniatis and Rébecca St-Pierre won their case in the SCC where our client, Concordia University, was being sued by a former student, Ashraf Azar.
Recently, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed Mr. Azar’s application for leave to appeal. Mr. Azar was expelled from Concordia University for plagiarism in 2004. His request for a judicial review of his expulsion had previously been dismissed by the Superior Court as well as the Court of Appeal. The Supreme Court not only refused to hear Mr. Azar’s case, it also ordered him to pay costs for all three instances. Mr. Azar’s claim for nearly $16 million in damages is still pending before the Superior Court.
