Gerry Apostolatos is a partner with our firm and a strategic advisor. Clients appreciate his ability to develop innovative and tailored solutions for various business problems. He is known as a seasoned litigator in commercial and corporate matters and has acted before all court levels including the Supreme Court of Canada.
Over the years, Gerry has developed a meaningful expertise in commercial disputes which allows him to offer legal and strategic advice in a wide array of legal matters.
A leading specialist in the area of insolvency and corporate restructuring, he has also advised a multitude of stakeholders in this field.
Recently, Gerry acted as co-counsel for an intervening shareholder in the BCE matter (one of the most important pieces of commercial litigation in Canadian history from a financial perspective) before the Supreme Court of Canada.
His lengthy involvement with the Canadian Bar Association led him to become President of the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Division, a member of the Executive as well as a voting member of the National Council of the Canadian Bar Association.
Until recently, he was Chair of the Liaison Committee of the Bar of Montreal with the Commercial Division of the Superior Court of Montréal. He is an active member of the Executive of the Business Law Section in the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association. He has also been a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Quebec Bar.
Three years ago, above and beyond his numerous activities within the business and legal communities, Gerry climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the benefit of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec.

Gerry Apostolatos is the co-founder of the first Pan-Canadian Conference of the Canadian Bar Association on Insolvency and Restructuring Law held annually since 2005 and which he co-chaired for three consecutive years
Gerry has acted as Chair of the Bar of Montreal Subcommittee on the development of a standard Anton Piller order
Sought after as a speaker, he has given several presentations, namely relating to arbitration, multi-jurisdictional insolvency files, legal developments in bankruptcy and insolvency , the United States Bankruptcy Code and various aspects of cross-border files. He has also taught bankruptcy and insolvency at the Quebec Bar School
In 2008, he gave a conference on Quebec and Ontario jurisprudence in insolvency matters for the Canadian Bar Association at the national level
In 2009, he organized and presented at a Symposium of the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Division, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of McGill University, regarding the Supreme Court of Canada judgment in the BCE matter
