Marie-Claude Carrier and Jean-Patrick Dallaire will be speakers at the annual meeting of the Corporation des entrepreneurs généraux du Québec, to be held February 11 to 13, 2009, at Manoir Richelieu. They will speak about the Superior Court decision Construction BSL Inc. v. Municipality of Sainte-Agathe de Lotbinière, successfully argued by our firm’s Bernard Vachon. The case dealt with a contractor’s claim for expenses due to project delays caused by the client’s failure to obtain necessary approvals and permits, thus leading to a delay in breaking ground and a need to proceed under winter conditions. In addition, Marie-Claude Carrier will give a second lecture at this meeting on the steps general contractors can take to ensure that potential legal disputes with subcontractors and clients are held and arbitrated in the general contractors’ judicial district.
