Céline Garneau receives Certificate in Corporate Governance from Laval University

Céline Garneau, a partner in the firm Langlois Kronström Desjardins, was recently awarded a Masters Certificate in Corporate Governance by Laval University’s Collège des administrateurs de societies.

She is the first member of the firm to earn this certificate, having successfully met all the requirements of this unique high-level program which examines best governance practices.

Céline Garneau practices both as counsel and litigator in the fields of labour & employment law, bankruptcy & insolvency, family law, wills and estates, and general litigation. She has appeared at all levels of trial and appellate courts and is also a certified mediator for civil, commercial, and family matters. Her experience in focusing on client needs and expectations over the years has allowed her to develop strong negotiating, strategic planning and other invaluable skills.

Céline was one of a number of lawyers defending the interests of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in the urea formaldehyde foam insulation (UFFI) case. It proved to be the most complex product liability case in North American history, with a trial lasting more than seven years in Superior Court. She has also been involved in a number of mediation and other alternative dispute resolution cases.

Intensely involved in the business and legal communities, Céline Garneau has for many years sat on the board of directors of several institutions, including the Dr. Maurice Bouchard Foundation, the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec, and the lnstitut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec. She is also actively involved in the Canadian Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Career Women’s Network of Montreal, the Quebec Business Women’s Association, and the Association des avocat(e)s en droit familial et successoral du Québec.
