Sébastien Laprise has just been appointed to two committees of the Québec City Regional Council Urban Development Institute (Quebec City area)—the Taxation Committee and the Urban Planning Committee.
The role of the Taxation Committee is to monitor issues relating to the taxation of non-residential and multi-residential buildings in the Québec City metropolitan area. The Taxation Committee therefore examines things like the taxation level of various types of buildings, the budgets of area municipalities, assessment roles, and the implementation of tax incentives for building owners according to a number of criteria.
The role of the Urban Planning Committee is to keep abreast of urban issues relating to real estate development and management in the Québec City metropolitan area. The Urban Planning Committee therefore examines things like the real estate project approval process, planning bylaws in local municipalities, parking and advertising issues, industrial and technology park management, and major development projects.
Since beginning his career in 1998, Sébastien Laprise has worked exclusively in municipal and administrative law with a clientele consisting mostly of public and parapublic organizations and private companies. He will use that expertise to contribute to the projects and deliberations of the UDI committees regarding major issues affecting all stakeholders in the field of real estate in matters of municipal taxes and urban development.
