Québec City, June 17, 2010 – Law firm Langlois Kronström Desjardins has announced that it will centralize its activities in its two places of business in Québec City and Montréal, and close its office in Lévis.
The decision is pursuant to the implementation of the firm’s strategic plan to focus its professional resources and development initiatives on its dominant practice areas of civil and commercial litigation, governance and ethics, labour and employment law, administrative law, public and real estate law and business law.
The firm also aims to better serve its clientele in the industrial segments where it occupies a strong competitive position, which are primarily the insurance, financial services, manufacturing, marine, road and rail transportation, education, health and government sectors.
“Competition is intense in the legal services industry, and our firm intends to better position itself in those practice areas where our professionals are particularly noted. This has prompted us to make the decision to geographically concentrate our activities in our Montréal and Québec City markets” stated Jean-François Gagnon, the firm’s managing partner. “Regardless of where our best resources are situated, our clients are increasingly demanding better access to them. So it’s not the geographical location of our professionals that is critical, but maintaining our values and exceptional service standards, and these will in no way be affected by this decision. Langlois Kronström Desjardins has historic roots in Lévis, and will continue to offer its services to clients in the region south of Québec City. Our commitment to that region is firm and will remain so”, Jean-François Gagnon added.
Three partners from the Lévis office, namely Richard Ramsay (admitted to the bar in 1975), Bernard Vachon (admitted in 1976) and Annie Pelletier (admitted in 1997) and two lawyers, Julie Samson (admitted in 1996) and Jean Patrick Dallaire (admitted in 2003) will be relocated to the firm’s Québec City office. The closing of the Lévis office will be completed on June 30, 2010.
