Paule Veilleux named partner in charge of firm’s Québec City office

Québec City, October 5, 2011 - Law firm Langlois Kronström Desjardins is pleased to announce that Paule Veilleux has been appointed to the firm’s executive committee and named partner in charge of its Québec City office. This nomination comes on the heels of the appointment of Chantal Chatelain as partner in charge of the firm’s Montréal office earlier this year, and increases the ratio of women on its executive committee to 50 %.

Paule Veilleux succeeds Michel Beaupré, who had been the partner in charge of the Québec City office for more than four years. Michel will be continuing his litigation and public law practice at the firm, with an emphasis on aboriginal law and health law.

“I am very pleased that Paule Veilleux, an experienced and highly regarded partner, has agreed to join our executive committee. Competition in the legal services business is fierce, and we must constantly remain ahead of the curve in order to best serve our clients. I am confident that Paule, with her high level of expertise and strong human values, will be an invaluable asset within our governance structure”, stated Jean-François Gagnon, the firm's managing partner.

“I am very happy to be able to contribute to the firm by participating in the management of the Québec City office. I am honoured by the confidence shown in me by my colleagues and feel privileged to be able to contribute to making the excellence of our services better known”, stated Paule Veilleux, the new partner in charge of the Québec City office.

Paule’s practice is focused on labour law, with particular emphasis on labour relations and occupational health and safety. She appears before all civil and administrative courts and tribunals, including the Court of Québec, the Superior Court and the Court of Appeal, the Commission des lésions professionnelles (occupational injuries board) and the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (human rights & youth protection commission), as well as before grievance arbitration panels. She also practices administrative and constitutional litigation, particularly where the Canadian and Quebec human rights charters are concerned.
