Description
Rébecca St-Pierre is part of the Litigation Group at Langlois Kronström Desjardins and is principally involved in complex files in civil and commercial litigation, public and administrative law, commercial arbitration (particularly in transportation matters), class actions and healthcare.
She is known for her rigorous and highly organized approach, her aptitude for team work, ability to listen, and her concern for achieving the client’s objectives. Her ability to react effectively and flexibly to any situation makes her an invaluable asset to the firm. In addition, she is fluent in three languages: English, French and Spanish.
Rébecca obtained her civil and common law degrees from McGill University in 2005, after completing an International Baccalaureat with a specialization in psychology at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal. At both of these institutions she excelled in debating and moot court competitions. In 2003 at the Charles-Rousseau International Competition in Geneva, her mooting team received an award for the quality of its factum and Rébecca received an individual award for her oral advocacy.

Counsel for Concordia University and McGill University in cases involving academic matters and student relations.
Class Actions
Counsel in a class action launched against WestJet airline.
Commercial Arbitration
Counsel for a mining company in a commercial arbitration involving the interpretation of a mining contract.
Federal Courts
Counsel in judicial review applications and statutory appeals before the Federal Court.
Final Offer Arbitration
Counsel in a Final Offer Arbitration (FOA) case, pursuant to the Canada Transportation Act, representing the rail carrier.
Securities Litigation/Insider Trading and Disclosure
Counsel in a civil liability lawsuit in the amount of $22 million instituted against an individual. The case raised questions about how to interpret the Quebec Securities Act that have yet to be decided. It was the first civil lawsuit of its kind instituted in Quebec. In addition, this litigation raised important questions regarding corporate governance.
Transportation Law
Lead counsel in an arbitration in the rail transportation sector.
Other Matters
Lead counsel in various areas such as contractual law, latent defects, successions, and small claims matters.
