Description
Jean-Guy Villeneuve is a member of the Labour and Administrative Law team. He has thorough and wide-ranging experience in both labour law and professional law, including the negotiation and drafting of collective agreements, employment contracts, service contracts and other business contracts, as well as consultation and representation before labour tribunals, arbitration tribunals and before the Courts. At the beginning of his career, Jean-Guy Villeneuve participated in the development of reforms to the laws governing professions and in the drafting of the Professional Code in 1972-73, when he was the political attaché of Claude Castonguay, Social Affairs minister in Robert Bourassa's cabinet.
He represents private businesses, public institutions such as school boards, hospitals, municipalities and crown corporations, and professional orders and associations.

Jean-Guy Villeneuve has been a frequent speaker at labour-law seminars on topics such as harassment, discipline and video surveillance. He offers private seminars to his clients on negotiating collective agreements and other issues involving labour law and professional and disciplinary law.

Arbitration and negotiation
Acted as negotiator and spokesman for the government and federations of colleges and school boards on five separate occasions between 1975 and 1990, during negotiations in the public and para-governmental sectors (education and public security).
Collective bargaining
Acted as negotiator of collective agreements for various companies, industries and institutions in the private sector.
Pension plans
Acted as legal adviser in pension plan matters for employers, professional associations and management associations.
