Doing your stage at Langlois Kronström Desjardins is an opportunity to make this compulsory rite of passage an enriching and stimulating experience. You will be involved in a wide variety of files and given all the responsibility you could hope for. You will also be schooled in the rigorous and disciplined approach of our team of highly competent professionals who are always there to support you.

Throughout your career with us, from your very first day as a stagiaire, you will experience the human touch that characterizes Langlois Kronström Desjardins. Our dynamic and gifted team views every member of the firm as an invaluable asset, even the most junior ones.

My own experience as a stagiaire exposed me to many areas of the law. I was called upon to draft proceedings ranging from affidavits to appeal factums, to prepare legal opinions and to plead various motions. However, what I appreciate most about my stage was how people listened to me and took my interests into account, with the result that I am now practicing the type of law that interests me most. I am very proud to be a member of the LKD team.

François-Xavier Thibodeau-Gagnon, Université de Sherbrooke, Bar 2010

I did my stage at Langlois Kronström Desjardins because I really wanted to work with the people I met when I was interviewed and during other recruiting activities there. I trusted my first impression, and couldn't have made a better choice.

From the moment I started working there as a student, I had access to people who were experts in their field and who immediately made me feel like a colleague. My stage allowed me to explore many of the firm's practice areas, to learn the ins and outs of court proceedings and to make a meaningful contribution to files at all levels of the courts, including the Québec Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

At the end of my stage I joined the firm's maritime law department. But more than that, I became part of an entire integrated team made up of all the firm's lawyers and staff, with whom I really enjoy working.

Annie Bourgeois, Université Laval, Bar 2009

Doing my stage at Langlois Kronström Desjardins gave me a very positive first impression of the legal profession and the practice of law.

During my stage I had the opportunity to work on files in several practice areas, from labour law to civil and commercial litigation and maritime law. The mandates I was assigned gave me the chance to accompany lawyers at trials, make submissions in court, prepare appeal factums and research complex legal questions, supported all the while by a superlative team of lawyers and other professionals. Throughout my stage, in fact, the firm's lawyers took the time to give me generous amounts of incisive practical advice that I still rely on today as a lawyer at the firm. The combination of professionalism and that special human touch that characterizes all the members of the firm makes Langlois Kronström Desjardins the ideal place to begin a legal career!

Bruno Sylvestre, Université Laval, Bar 2009

I couldn't have asked for a better stage than the one I was offered by Langlois Kronström Desjardins. In addition to gaining concrete experience practicing law in a large firm on a variety of interesting files, I found myself part of a highly disciplined and competent team working in a respectful and enjoyable office environment.

At the outset of my stage I indicated my interest in municipal law and urban planning, which I had previously studied, and was pleased to find myself involved in several files in those areas. And thanks to the comprehensive nature of the LKD stage, I got to broaden my horizons in other areas of the law as well, including civil procedure in the Superior Court and the Court of Québec, where I attended hearings with lawyers from the firm, as well as before various administrative tribunals. Constant feedback from the lawyers who gave me mandates allowed me to make rapid progress during my stage, and the acknowledgement I received when I completed a mandate proved to me that firm's "human touch" is not just a slogan but a reality.

Martine Bergeron, Université Laval, Bar 2008

Right from the outset, I was able to become immersed in stimulating cases that dealt with different facets of the legal world. In the course of my assignments, I was called upon to work alongside skilled lawyers who helped me refine my legal abilities and develop a professional philosophy that focuses on excellence and meeting client needs. They provided guidance and support to assist me with the challenging responsibilities that were assigned, and as a result, I was ready and able to launch my professional career. Today I am fortunate to be pursuing that career as a lawyer in this large firm known for its human touch!

Articling with Langlois Kronström Desjardins is the ideal way to expand one’s legal knowledge immersed in an outstanding work atmosphere. And the opportunity to learn from colleagues who eagerly—and very patiently— share their knowledge is priceless.

During my articling experience, I gained exposure to a variety of legal practice areas, based on the needs of my colleagues, but also on my own interests. I was quickly assimilated into work groups and assigned interesting responsibilities. In the litigation area in particular, I handled a wide variety of tasks including developing strategies, performing examinations, and making brief submissions. One thing is for sure about articling with Langlois Kronström Desjardins: you learn to work with professionalism and rigor. I now belong to a team in the litigation sector and am convinced that I made the right decision in choosing to article with a firm that is known as much for its human qualities as it is for the legal capabilities of its professional staff.
